Review a trade: notes, rating, tags, screenshots

Every trade has its own page with a chart, the numbers, the news around it and a review form. Five short steps turn a trade into something you can learn from.

5 min readUpdated Sep 30, 2026

A trade you never look at again teaches you nothing. The trade page is where you look at it once, calmly, and write down what you learned. It takes two minutes a trade.

Open a trade

  1. Open Journal. You are on Trades, the list of every trade.
  2. Click a trade. Its page opens.
  3. Use the arrows at the top right (Older trade, Newer trade) to walk through your trades one by one.

What is on the page

Top of the page
The symbol, buy or sell, the lots (the size), the times, the account, the Net result and the R multiple (the result measured in units of your risk)
The chart
Candles around your trade with lines for your entry, exit, stop (SL) and target (TP). Bar size changes the candle length. Replay the trade plays it forward bar by bar
The numbers
Entry, Exit, Move in pips, Held, Stop at entry, Target, Risked, Gross, Commission, Swap and Net
Best and worst point
How far price went against you and in your favour while the trade was open, and how much of the best you kept
Deals
The fills that make up the trade, one line each
Screenshots and voice memos
Your own pictures and recordings of the trade
High-impact news
Which big releases came out around your entry, and the headlines before it
Your review
The form you fill in: rating, tags, stop, note

A pip is the usual price step: 0.0001 on EURUSD, 0.01 on USDJPY. Swap is the fee or credit for keeping a trade open overnight. A stop loss is the price where the trade closes by itself to limit the loss.

Review it in five steps

  1. Look at the chart. Press Replay the trade and watch it happen. Where did you enter? Where did price turn? If the chart says there are no candles, FxMind's price feed does not hold that time for this symbol. Older trades may have no chart.
  2. Check the news. In the High-impact news panel, see whether you opened near a big release or held through one. The badge at the top says it too.
  3. Rate it. In Your review, give stars for How well you traded it, and stars for Discipline: how controlled the trade felt, separate from how it turned out. A losing trade can be 5 stars for discipline, and a winning one can be 1.
  4. Tag it. Pick the Setup (the idea behind the trade) and any Mistakes (what you would not do again). The Stats page then shows what each one costs you. Tags.
  5. Write a note, and check the stop. Type what you saw, what you planned, what you did and what you would change. If Stop at entry is empty, type the price where the trade was wrong. It gives you the R.

Then press Save review. Ctrl or Cmd plus Enter saves too. The page says Saved.

The rest of the form

Press More: tags, playbook, target and risk under the note for the rest:

  • Tags: your own free tags, beyond setups and mistakes.
  • Playbook: pick a setup you wrote rules for, then tick the rules you followed. It shows 3 of 5 rules followed. Playbooks.
  • Target: where you planned to take profit.
  • Risk: if the trade had no stop, type what you were ready to lose, and R still works. R is never guessed.

Add a screenshot or a voice memo

  1. In the Screenshots panel, drop a picture on the box, paste it, or pick a file. PNG, JPG and WebP work, up to 8 per trade. The picture is shrunk in your browser before it is sent.
  2. In the Voice memos panel, press Record a voice memo. More on voice memos.

Both need a paid plan. Notes, tags and shared links stay free.

The buttons at the top

  • Ask the analyst: opens a new question about this trade, with your numbers and the news around it.
  • Replay in Strategy Lab: reopens the trade bar by bar. More.
  • Share: makes a read-only link to this trade. More.
  • Edit trade and Delete trade: only for trades you typed or imported from a file. Trades from your linked account come from the broker and cannot be edited, but you can merge or split them.
  • Position size, in The numbers panel: the calculator.

When it does not work

  • This trade is not in your journal: it may belong to another FxMind account, or the address is wrong. Go back to Journal.
  • The review was not saved: check your connection and press Save review again.
  • R multiple shows nothing: add a stop or a risk, as above.
