A setup is the kind of trade you look for, for example a pullback after the London open. A playbook writes it down as rules you can answer with yes or no. You tick the rules on each trade afterward, and FxMind compares the trades where you followed every rule with the trades where you did not.
Write a playbook
- Open Journal. At the bottom of the trade list, under Also in Trades, open Playbooks. (You can also press Manage playbooks in the review of a trade.)
- Press New playbook. With no playbook yet, you can press Start from the example and change it, or Write my own.
- Type a Name and, if you like, a Description.
- Under Rules, type one rule per line, in the order you check them, for example
Stop beyond the last swing. Press Add a rule for more. The limit is 30, and 4 to 6 works best. - Optional: pick the Sessions this setup trades in. A trade opened outside them shows as an insight.
- Optional: under Group (optional), type a name like
Entry checksto group rules. - Press Save playbook.
Tick the rules before you trade
Turn on Check before I trade and the rules appear in the order ticket on the desk. Tick Required next to the rules you want to force yourself to tick: the Send button stays off until every required rule is ticked. How it works.
Use it on a trade
- Open the trade and go to Your review. Review a trade.
- Press More: tags, playbook, target and risk.
- Pick the Playbook.
- Tick the rules you followed. The form shows 3 of 5 rules followed.
- Press Save review.
Read the numbers
On the Playbooks page, each playbook shows its Closed trades, Net, Win rate and Average R, and the line Every rule followed on 6 of 9 trades. Once some trades followed every rule and some did not, the two groups appear side by side: All rules and Some rules skipped. The Stats page has the same view By playbook.
Share and import
- To send a playbook to someone, share it as a setup. Sharing.
- To use one someone sent you, press Import from a link on the Playbooks page, paste the link or code (and the passphrase if it asks), and press Import. It is added as your own copy, and Check before I trade is never turned on by itself.
Delete one
Press Delete on the playbook and confirm. It is removed from the trades that used it. The trades and their notes stay. You can keep up to 50 playbooks.
