Compare

Your calendar cannot see your trades. Your journal cannot see the news.

Many traders use four or five separate tools. Each one does its job. But they do not share what they know. So the costly moment, big news hitting an open trade, falls between them.

The tools many traders use

  • News calendarsknows the news
  • Trade journalsknows your trades
  • Account trackersknows your trades
  • Signal groupsknows neither
  • By handknows neither
FxMindknows both, at the same time

01Side by side

19 jobs, and which tool does each one.

We compare types of tools, not brands, because each type has the same limits. A half mark means it does part of the job. The small note says which part.

  • does it
  • does part of it
  • does not
  • not listed

Checked 2026-09-30 against each kind of tool's own price and feature pages. A dashed mark means the pages we read do not say, and we do not guess.

02Said plainly

What the older, specialised tools still do better.

We closed most of the gaps above. These five did not close, and we are not pretending otherwise.

  • Tick-by-tick replay

The specialised backtesters replay every price tick. We replay bar by bar, our smallest bar being one minute.

  • History back to 2014

Their tick data can run over a decade back. Our own candles go back 2 years; older trades still import from your broker's statement.

  • Eight charts in one backtest

The specialised backtesters open up to eight charts side by side while testing. Strategy Lab opens up to four.

  • Retail sentiment percentages

The tracker-class tools publish a broker-wide long/short split by symbol. We do not measure this yet.

  • Built-in courses

Some journal apps sell trading courses inside the app. We do not teach trading; we show you what your own trades and the news calendar say.

03One morning, two ways

The same morning with five tools, and with FxMind.

The US inflation report (CPI) comes out today. You trade EURUSD with a prop firm's money. Your firm does not allow open trades during big news.

News calendarsTrade journalsAccount trackersSignal groupsBy hand

Five separate tools

  1. 07:40You open a calendar site. CPI at 08:30, marked red. You note it and close the tab.
  2. 07:50You open your prop firm's site to check the daily loss limit. You have to log in again.
  3. 07:55The chat group says EURUSD is going up. No reason given. 214 unread messages.
  4. 08:02You buy 2 lots of EURUSD. Good entry. Now you watch the chart, not the clock.
  5. 08:30CPI comes out. Price jumps through your stop loss and fills 6 pips worse. You held a trade during big news.
  6. 08:41Email from the firm: you broke a rule. The account is closed. The test fee is lost.
  7. 21:00Your journal spreadsheet was last updated nine days ago.

Cost of the morning: a prop firm account.

One app

  1. 07:30The New York summary arrives. CPI at 08:30. EURUSD moved 45 pips on average after the last 12 reports.
  2. 08:02You buy 2 lots. The trade goes into your journal by itself, with the news of the moment saved.
  3. 08:18News Guard: CPI in 12 minutes. Your stop loss is 18 pips away. Your firm does not allow open trades during it. Close or reduce.
  4. 08:18You tap Close trade. It closes in 119 ms. The receipt is in your inbox.
  5. 08:30CPI comes out. EURUSD moves 52 pips. You have no open trade, and the account is fine.
  6. 17:00Trade Review: one trade, +0.4R (0.4 times your risk), closed before the news as your firm requires.

Cost of the morning: 12 minutes less in a trade you liked.

This is an example story, not a real account. FxMind does not know where price will go and does not tell you what to trade.

04Not for everyone

Who should not buy this.

Better you hear it here than after you pay.

Who it is for

Traders who keep trades open while news comes out, and traders with strict rules, like prop firm accounts. Also anyone who wants a journal kept for them.

  1. ×01

You want buy and sell signals

FxMind never says buy or sell, in any plan. If you want trade ideas sent to your phone, this is the wrong product, and it always will be.

  2. ×02

You want a bot that trades for you

FxMind can only close or reduce a trade, move a stop loss or cancel an order, within limits you set. It has no way to open a trade.

  3. ×03

You hold trades for months and ignore news

If one news release cannot hurt your trade, you will not need most of FxMind. The free daily summaries may still be worth a look.

  4. ×04

You do not want to link or upload an account

Without your trades, FxMind only sees the news half. You can still use the summaries and the calendar on the Free plan.

The next big news release is already scheduled

Get warned before the next big news release.

Link your MT5 or MT4 account with its read-only password. FxMind warns you before news hits your trade. 14 days of Pro, free. Cancel any day.

No buy or sell signals, no advice. FxMind never opens a trade for you.
