Accounts lists every trading account you linked. Each card shows a name, a status word, your broker, the login (only the last four digits), and live Equity, Balance, Floating and Margin. Click the name, or Open, to go to the account's own page. If you use the short menu, Accounts sits under All tools. To add an account, see link an account.
Equity is your balance plus the profit or loss of your open trades. Floating is the profit or loss of those open trades alone. Margin is the money your broker holds back while trades are open.
What the status words mean
- idle
- Linked, with no connection open right now.
- connecting
- Signing in to your broker's server.
- syncing
- Copying your past trades into the journal.
- live
- Connected. Balance, equity and open trades update in real time.
- reconnecting
- The connection dropped. FxMind keeps trying by itself and moves to another of your broker's servers if needed.
- login failed
- The broker refused the login. The card shows The broker said: and the reason. See the fixes below.
- delayed
- The numbers for this account are not fresh right now. Give it a minute, and use Sync history now if it stays.
- market closed
- The market is closed, usually the weekend. FxMind paused the connection and wakes it at the open. This is normal.
- paused
- On Free, the sync pauses after 7 days away and resumes when you come back. Hover the word for the hint.
- stopped
- FxMind is not connected to this account. If it stays this way, unlink the account and link it again.
If it says login failed
- Read the line under The broker said:. It gives the broker's reason.
- If you changed the password at your broker or in MetaTrader, the stored one no longer works.
- Open the account menu, choose Unlink, then link the account again with the current password and the server name exactly as MetaTrader shows it: link an account.
- Still failing? Find or reset the investor password, then try again, or contact support.
The account menu
Press the three dots at the top right of a card (Account actions). In the demo account these are switched off.
- Sync history now. Asks FxMind to read the broker's deals again. New deals show up in the journal within a few seconds. Use it if a trade is missing. It does not change anything at your broker.
- Rename. Changes the name of the account inside FxMind, up to 40 characters. Your broker sees nothing. The new name is saved on this device for now, so another browser or phone keeps the old name.
- Upgrade to guarded. Shown only on a read-only link. Steps below.
- Unlink. Stops FxMind watching the account. Steps below.
Upgrade a link to guarded
A read-only link uses the investor password, and FxMind can only watch. A guarded link uses the master password, so FxMind can close or reduce a trade, move a stop loss or cancel a pending order when a guard you set fires. It can never open a trade or add to one, withdraw or transfer money, change account settings, or act while actions are paused. Guarded links are part of Pro and above.
- Turn on two-step sign-in if it is not on yet.
- Open the account menu and choose Upgrade to guarded.
- Read both lists: FxMind may and FxMind may never.
- Type the Master password, the one you trade with in MetaTrader. It is encrypted on arrival and never shown again.
- Tick the box that says you read both lists and want FxMind to run the guard actions in your policy on this account.
- Press Upgrade link. You land on Guards. Actions stay off until you set the policy: guard actions.
If your plan does not include guarded links, the dialog says so and links to the plans. Wrong password? The dialog shows the broker's message and nothing changes.
The account's own page
Click an account to open its page. You see Open trades, Pending orders, Free margin, Margin level and Leverage. What FxMind may do here says whether the link is read-only or guarded, and Open guards takes you to the rules. Link facts lists when it was linked, last connected, trades imported, platform, and the last deal. Open trade desk takes you to the desk. On a guarded link, the Automatic actions switch turns your guards' ability to close or reduce trades on or off for this account. FxMind never opens a trade.
Unlink an account
- Open the account menu and choose Unlink.
- Read the three lines: the live session closes and the stored password is deleted; guards on this account stop, and open trades stay exactly as they are in MetaTrader; trades already in the journal are kept.
- Press Unlink account.
You can link the same account again later.
