Start here, step 3: your first look at the trading desk

The desk is the full-screen chart and order screen. What each part is for, and how to look around without risking anything.

The Desk is FxMind's full-screen chart and order screen. You can look at it without placing anything. This is step 3 of 6.

Open it

  1. Press Trading desk in the menu. On a phone, open the menu first (the button at the top left).
  2. Press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac) and type a pair, for example EURUSD. The list only holds what your account can trade.
  3. Choose it. The chart opens.

The first time you open the desk, a short tour starts by itself and rings each part in turn. Skip it any time, and start it again with the ? in the top bar. More here.

What is on the screen

Watchlist
Your favourite pairs with the live price
Chart
Price over time, one candle per period. Pick the period (timeframe) at the top
Drawing tools
Lines and zones you draw on the chart. How
Order ticket
Where you buy or sell. It shows what the trade risks in money before you send it
Positions
Your open trades, live
News
What is released next and how far price usually moves after it

Before you send an order

Sending orders needs a guarded link (the master password). A read-only link can look and cannot trade. That is by design. When you are ready, read Place your first trade from the desk. Three words first:

Stop loss
The price where the trade closes against you. Set it before you send, never after
Take profit
The price where it closes in your favour. Optional
Lot
The size of a trade. A standard lot is 100,000 units of the first currency
