The trading desk is one full-screen page with charts, your watchlist, your open trades and the order ticket. Open it from the menu with Trading desk (Desk on a phone). Exit desk in the top bar, or the Esc key, takes you back to the app. This page is a map. For your first order, read Place your first trade.
The top bar
- Exit desk
- Back to the app
- Account name
- Press it to Switch account. A badge says Guarded link (FxMind can close or change a trade when you allow it, and never opens one) or Read-only link (it can see the account and nothing else)
- Numbers
- Balance, equity (balance plus what your open trades are worth now) and open profit. More numbers adds margin used, free margin and margin level. A line shows how much of today's daily loss room is left
- Connection
- Whether prices and your account are live, slow or delayed
- Emergency close
- Closes every trade and cancels every waiting order on this account. It shows only when a guarded link can act
- Chart layout
- 1 chart, 2 side by side, 2 stacked or 4 charts
- Panel buttons
- Show or hide the drawing tools, the watchlist, your trades and the side panel
- Theme, Full screen, Desk settings
- Dark or light, browser full screen, and the settings box: time zone, panels, trading preferences
The watchlist (left)
Your favourite pairs, with live price, spread and the change since the trading day opened. Click a row and the chart follows. Add a symbol adds one, New list makes another list, and you can drag a row to reorder it. A row tagged Reference shows FxMind's own price because your broker does not list that instrument. Press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac) to search any symbol your account can trade.
Plans keep lists and symbols: Free 1 list, Trader 5, Pro 10, Elite 15, Desk 20. A list holds up to 100 symbols. Free shows charts and one watchlist on FxMind's own feed. Trader and above add your broker's own prices.
The chart and its toolbar
Each chart has a toolbar along its top.
- Symbol
- Press the name to change the pair
- Timeframe
- How much time one candle covers: 1m, 5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 4h, 1d, 1w or 1M
- Chart type and scale
- Candles, bars, line, area or Heikin Ashi. Normal, Log or Percent price scale
- Indicators
- Search and add indicators, which are calculations drawn on the price. The picker groups them as Common, Basic, Advanced and Levels
- On the chart
- Switch on or off: calendar releases, headlines, your fills, day and week breaks, trading sessions (Asia, London, New York as boxes), your positions and orders, price alarms and the risk-window bands
- Templates
- Save this chart's setup once and apply it to any pair. Plans keep Free 2, Trader 10, Pro 20, Elite 30, Desk 40
- Drawing tools
- Trend lines, levels, channels, fibs and the position tool. See Draw on the chart. Saved drawings come with Trader and above
- Fit, Now, Save a picture
- Fit the bars to the screen, jump back to now, or save the chart as an image
Right-click a price on the chart for Actions at that price: buy limit, buy stop, sell limit, sell stop, Set an alarm, or Copy the price. The order actions need order entry (see the plans below).
The side panel (right)
One panel with five tabs. Drag its left edge to resize it.
- Ticket
- The order ticket: type, size, stop and target, risk in money, your rules check. See Place your first trade
- Analyst
- The analyst next to your chart, sharing the chart you are on. See What the analyst on the desk sees
- Headlines
- Live headlines. A number on the tab counts new ones
- News
- Upcoming releases and headlines for every pair on your watchlist and every open trade, and your standing news alerts. See News release windows and news alerts
- Community
- Rooms where traders share setups. See Community threads
The trades panel (under the chart)
Tabs you can sort and act on. Drag its top edge to resize it.
- Open trades
- Your live positions with entry, stop, target and open profit. Close all of one or part of it. Above it, the exposure bar warns when several trades are one bet. See Net currency exposure
- Pending orders
- Orders waiting at a price. Edit or cancel them
- Closed today
- What you closed since the trading day began at 17:00 New York time
- Price alarms
- Tells you when a price is reached. It never places an order. Choose at or above, at or below or crossing, once or every time, with an expiry. Set one from the chart's right-click menu or press New alarm. Trader 50, Pro 200, Elite 350, Desk 500
- Scheduled orders
- An order you prepare now and the server sends later, at a time or around a news release. It shows only on Pro and above. To make one, open the ticket, then More options, then Send it later instead. Your rules are checked again when the moment comes. Pro 20, Elite 35, Desk 50
- Currency exposure
- Every open position added up by currency
Free has no alarms tab, and Trader has no scheduled orders tab. They appear when your plan includes them.
What each plan gets on the desk
- Free
- Charts and one watchlist on FxMind's feed. No saved drawings, no alarms, no order entry
- Trader
- Your broker's prices, saved drawings, price alarms, news alerts, more lists and templates. No order entry from the desk
- Pro
- Order entry and scheduled orders on a guarded link, one-click, and more of everything. The free 14-day trial counts as Pro
- Elite and Desk
- The same as Pro with higher limits on lists, alarms, scheduled orders and templates
Exact limits are on pricing. When a feature is not in your plan, the desk says so in place and links to the plans.
On a phone or tablet
Below 1024 pixels wide the desk shows one chart and a bar of five tabs at the bottom.
- Chart: the chart, with the drawing tools in a row under it.
- Watchlist: your lists. Press a row to chart it.
- Trade: the order ticket. Place an order on the chart opens it too.
- Trades: your open trades, pending orders and trades closed today.
- More: Ask the analyst, Headlines, News, Community, your Account numbers and the settings.
When something looks wrong
- The ticket will not send
- It says why: your plan, a read-only link, an offline account, prices behind your broker, or a closed market. See plans and Link with the master password appear where they apply
- Prices say Reference
- Your broker has no history for that symbol yet, or your account is still connecting. The chart uses FxMind's own feed meanwhile
- A pair is missing from the search
- Your broker does not list it, or has disabled it, or allows closing only
- Prices are late or offline
- The desk says so and shows the last prices it had. Orders wait until numbers catch up
- A panel is gone
- Use the panel buttons in the top bar, or Desk settings under Panels
