A release is a scheduled number such as US inflation or the jobs report. Prices can jump within seconds of one. The desk shows it coming in three ways: a band on the chart, cards in the corner, and alerts that reach you even when the desk is closed.
The band on the chart
A shaded band starts 30 minutes before a release and ends 15 minutes after. It is the same window the News Guard uses for its warnings, so a band on the chart means the same thing as a warning elsewhere. To switch every band off or on, open the On the chart menu in the chart toolbar and use Risk-window bands. To hide one release's band, open the News tab and use the show or hide band button on that release's row.
The cards in the corner
For a high-impact release touching a pair on your watchlist or an open trade, a card appears in the chart corner 15, 5 and 1 minute before the number, and again when it lands. A top headline gets a card too. The cards only fire while you are looking at the desk. You can switch them off with News alerts in Desk settings (the gear in the top bar).
Setting a standing alert
A standing alert is a rule checked on our server. It warns you by email, push, Telegram or Discord even with the desk closed.
- On the desk, open the News tab in the right panel (on a phone: More, then News).
- Find Warn me before a release and press Add an alert.
- Tick the currencies you care about.
- Choose the Impact: high only, medium and high, or all.
- Choose How long before: 5, 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
- Press Save.
The rule keeps watching every future release until you pause or delete it. Its row shows On or Paused. Limits by plan: Free has none, Trader 10, Pro 30, Elite 45, Desk 60. Alerts are sent through the channels you set in Settings > Notifications.
