Your own limits are the simplest guard: a few numbers you decide once, calmly, and FxMind then warns you when you are close. They are warnings only. Saving them never turns on an automatic action.
Set your limits
- Open Guards and pick the account at the top.
- Find the card My limits.
- Fill the four numbers: risk on one trade (a percent of the account), most I lose in a day (a percent of the account), most trades in a day, and trading hours (in UTC, the time the whole world shares). An empty field shows a suggestion such as 1%, 2%, 3 trades or 07:00 to 16:00 UTC.
- Press Save my limits. Nothing is saved before that.
The first time you save risk, daily loss or hours on an account with no rules, FxMind asks for the account size and shows a short notice once, then creates your own rule list. The trades number is the same number the habit tracker's At most N trades uses, so there is one number, not two. Risk, daily loss and hours need the Trader plan; the trades number works on every plan.
Start my day
On Today there are two buttons under the header, Start my day and Finish my day. They open one sheet (a bottom sheet on a phone) and each takes about a minute. Demo visitors do not see them.
- Press Start my day.
- Read today's high-impact releases on the currencies of the pairs you traded in the last 30 days, with the usual move in the first 15 minutes after each. If you have not traded yet you see all high-impact releases.
- Read your limits. If you have none, Set my limits takes you to the card above.
- Read today's habits and your clean-day streak, the number of days in a row you kept your rules.
- Write one line of plan and save. It is saved as the first line of today's journal note, starting with
Plan:.
Finish my day
- Press Finish my day.
- Read today's trades, each with the short facts FxMind found (for example a larger size right after a loss).
- Rate the day from 1 to 5. It starts from the discipline ratings you gave today's trades, or from the rating already saved.
- Write one Keep line (what to repeat) and one Stop line (what to drop). They are saved in today's note.
- Save. You then see your updated clean-day streak.
Saving again the same day replaces the plan, keep and stop lines instead of doubling them. The streak is worked out from the habit tracker each time, so nothing extra is stored. More on habits in Habits.
