Timeline insights, discipline rating and the edge finder

Automatic notes on your trades (a bigger trade after a loss, no stop, a trade inside a news window), a 0 to 5 discipline rating per trade and day, and a page that shows where your edge is.

Three tools look at how you trade, not only at what you made. All of them use only your own closed trades. There is no AI and no guessing behind them.

Insights: automatic notes

An insight is a plain-language flag that appears when a pattern shows up in your trades. You find them in the Insights panel above your trade list in Journal, and in a day's page in the Notebook. The patterns are:

  • Revenge trade: a bigger trade opened soon after a loss.
  • Size-up after a loss: a trade well above your recent average size, right after a loss.
  • Opened inside high-impact news: a trade opened in the minutes around a big release.
  • Stop moved wider: price went past your planned stop and the trade stayed open.
  • No stop set: a trade with no stop loss and no planned risk.
  • Overtrading: many more trades in a day than your recent average.
  • Losers held longer than winners, Outside the playbook's sessions and Guard warning traded through.

No insight does not mean a clean record: insights only fire on these patterns. Press Dismiss on one you do not want to see.

Change when an insight fires

  1. Open Journal, What works, then Edge and insights.
  2. Press Insight settings at the top right.
  3. Change a number, for example Minutes after a loss or Times your usual size. These only decide what counts as unusual for you. They never trade and never change a trade.
  4. Press Save settings.

Discipline rating

Discipline is how controlled a trade felt, separate from how it turned out. Rate it from 0 to 5 stars. You can do it in two places: in the Your review panel of a trade (review a trade), and on a day's note in the Notebook. The Discipline trend chart in the Notebook shows one bar per day: green for 4 or 5, red for 1 or 2. Point at a bar or tap it to see that day's net result and any playbook rules you broke.

Where your edge is

Your edge is what you do that really pays. Expectancy is the average result of one trade, here in R (your risk on the trade). The page Where your edge is ranks your setups, symbols, sessions, weekdays and tags by it.

  1. Open Journal, What works, then Edge and insights.
  2. Choose This week or 30 days at the top.
  3. Read Best edge and Worst edge, then the bars By setup, By symbol, By session, By weekday and By tag.

A group needs at least 10 closed trades before it counts. Thinner bars are shown greyed out with not enough trades yet. Nothing is called an edge on a handful of trades. To get the setup and tag bars, tag your trades in their review.
