Practise a challenge or a news release in the Strategy Lab

Trade a past market under a prop firm's real rules, or replay a past high-impact release from 30 minutes before it. No real money either way.

The Strategy Lab lets you trade old candles forward with no money at risk. Two shortcuts set it up for the two things new traders fear most: a prop firm challenge, and a big news release.

Practise a challenge

  1. Open Strategy Lab and press Practise a challenge, next to New session.
  2. Pick a prop firm (only forex firms are offered), an account size, a pair, a timeframe (how long one candle is) and a start day.
  3. Press Start the challenge.

You then trade a past market with that size's balance. A panel shows the profit target, the daily loss, the maximum loss and the minimum trading days, in the same words the Guards page uses, and when the firm's day resets.

  • A breach. The session stops at that bar, closes anything open and shows the rule's own sentence. Start it again opens a fresh run of the same firm and size from the same day.
  • A pass. The target is reached, the minimum days are done and no rule was broken. The session pauses: keep going or press Finish.

Practise a news release

  1. Open the News calendar and open a past high-impact release (red, at least six hours old).
  2. Under its buttons, press Practise this release. Tick Blind mode first if you want it.

The Strategy Lab opens 30 minutes before the release, on the pair that release has moved most often. A card shows the release, what was expected, the one before it, and how far that pair usually moves in the first 15 minutes. The chart draws that range as a shaded band at the release. The result stays hidden until the clock reaches it.

Blind mode hides the pair and the date on screen until you press Finish. It stops you recognising the day; it is not a lock. The price level can still hint at the pair, and hovering the release badge shows its time.

If you see "We have not measured this release well enough to practise it yet", fewer than three past releases of that kind were measured. If you hit your plan's practice-session limit, delete one session in the Strategy Lab. More on replay in Replay and backtest.
