Short answer
- Create a hook in Settings > Webhooks and paste its URL into a TradingView alert's webhook field. Every hook does one of three things, chosen when you create it: notify, mark the chart, or draft an order.
- A notify hook reaches you by email, push and the in-app inbox, plus Discord if you have it connected. A marker hook only ever shows on an open desk session, live, with no email or push.
- A draft-order hook never places a trade on arrival. It creates a draft that expires in a few minutes, and confirming it runs the exact same pre-trade checks a live order from the desk runs.
- Free has no hooks. Trader gets up to 5 notify and marker hooks (Pro 15, Elite 25, Desk 40). Pro and above add draft-order hooks, the same split as order entry everywhere else on the desk.
Words used here
- Hook
- One TradingView-facing URL and the single action it performs: notify, mark, or draft an order. You can create more than one, each doing a different thing.
- Draft order
- An order FxMind has prepared from an alert but not sent. It shows on your desk and in a notification, with a countdown, until you confirm it or it expires.
- Pre-trade check
- The same guard check a live desk order runs before it sends: it can block, warn (needing a second tap), or let it through.
- Payload
- The message text your TradingView alert sends. A template with placeholders for ticker, price and side is provided when you create a hook.
One URL, one action, chosen up front
TradingView can point any alert at a URL when it fires. FxMind gives you that URL per hook, and a hook does exactly one thing, decided when you create it, never re-decided per alert: notify, mark, or draft an order. Creating one is a plain-language choice between three cards, not a settings form full of jargon, and the page shows you the secret URL and the message template exactly once, with the steps to paste it into TradingView.
The three things a hook can do
- Notify: an email, a push notice and an in-app inbox line, plus a Discord message if you have a channel connected. This is the plain alert-to-notification path.
- Marker: nothing leaves your inbox. It shows only as a live line on an open desk session, the moment the alert arrives, for a signal you want to see on the chart while you are watching it and nowhere else.
- Draft order: creates an order draft and a notification about it. Nothing is sent to your broker until you confirm.
Why a draft is never sent on its own
Two separate things have to happen before a draft becomes a real order. First, you confirm it: from the notification itself or from the pending-drafts list in Settings, with the symbol, side, volume and the alert's own price shown, and a countdown to when it expires (1 to 30 minutes, 2 by default, so an old signal cannot be confirmed hours later). Second, confirming does not skip the checks a live order would face: it runs through the exact same pre-trade gate the desk's own ticket uses. A rule that would block the trade refuses it outright; a rule that would only warn shows you the reason and needs a second tap. A block, a warning you do not accept, or an account that is unavailable all mean nothing is sent, even after you tapped confirm.
The alert message
FxMind gives you a message template with TradingView's own placeholders filled in: ticker, price, the strategy action, the interval and the time. Paste it into the alert's message field unchanged, or edit it; a message that is not valid JSON is still accepted as plain text for a notify hook, so even an alert using TradingView's default message works. The ticker's exchange prefix is stripped and matched to your linked account's own broker symbol the same way FxMind already matches a community setup to a follower's account, so a draft-order hook resolves to the right instrument on your specific broker.
Which plan includes which hooks
Draft-order hooks follow the same line as order entry everywhere else on the desk: Pro and above.
The 14-day trial is full Pro, so draft-order hooks work during it. The number of hooks you can keep active is one of the plan limits on /pricing.
What keeps the URL safe
TradingView's alerts cannot send a custom header, so the hook's secret travels in the URL itself instead, the standard way webhook-consuming products solve this. It never appears in a log: the api and the web server both mask that part of the path before writing it anywhere. Every attempt, accepted or refused and why, lands in an activity log only you can read. Requests are checked against TradingView's own published sending addresses, rate-limited per hook and per account, and an identical alert body arriving twice within five minutes is treated as one delivery, not two.
Questions
- 01
Can a TradingView alert place a trade the moment it arrives?
Only a notify or marker hook reacts instantly, and neither one trades. A draft-order hook creates a draft that still needs your confirm tap, and confirming still runs the same pre-trade checks a live order faces.
- 02
What if I never edit TradingView's default alert message?
A notify hook still works: a message that is not valid JSON is used as plain text, so the alert's own default wording becomes the notification you get.
- 03
How long does a draft order wait for me?
1 to 30 minutes, 2 by default. After that it expires and nothing is sent.
- 04
Does FxMind send Telegram messages for a notify hook?
Notify hooks reach you by email, push, the in-app inbox and Discord if you have a channel connected. Telegram delivery is not live yet.
- 05
Which plan do I need for draft orders from TradingView?
Pro and above. Trader gets notify and marker hooks only; Free has none.
