Margin calculator
How much of your balance your broker holds while this trade is open, at your leverage.
Margin needed
—
Estimates before costs: spread, commission and overnight swap are not included. Your broker's own figures always win.
Words used here
- Margin
- Money your broker holds while a trade is open. You get it back when the trade closes; it is not a fee.
- Leverage
- The position you may open per unit of margin. 1:30 means 1,000 of margin can hold a 30,000 position.
- Free margin
- Your equity minus the margin in use. If losses eat it all, the broker starts closing trades (margin call, stop out).
