What your prop challenges really cost you: the money log

Fees, resets and payouts, per firm and in total, so you can see the real return on a prop challenge instead of only the pass-or-fail progress bar.

Short answer

  • The Prop tracker's Progress tab already shows whether you are passing a challenge's rules. The Money tab, next to it, shows whether the challenge is making you money.
  • You log each challenge (linked to an account, or typed in by hand): the firm, account size and phase, its status, and every fee, reset, re-buy or refund, plus payout dates and amounts.
  • FxMind adds it up per firm and in total, in each currency separately: spent, received, net, return %, pass rate and average days to pass. It never converts or adds two currencies together.
  • It exports to CSV, and the analyst can answer "how much have I spent on prop challenges" by reading the exact same numbers the Money tab shows, because it is the same calculation.

Words used here

Spent
Every fee you paid for a challenge: the first purchase, a reset, a re-buy, minus any refund.
Received
The sum of every payout logged for that challenge or firm.
Net
Received minus spent. Negative until a payout covers what you put in.
Return %
Net divided by spent, times 100. Left blank when nothing was spent yet, never a division by zero.
Pass rate
Passed and funded challenges, over passed, funded and failed ones. Active and closed-without-a-verdict challenges count toward neither side.

A money view next to the progress you already track

The Prop tracker already reads your account's own rule set, the same rules Guards watch, and shows your progress: profit target, daily loss, drawdown, minimum trading days, consistency. The Money tab sits next to that Progress tab and answers a different question: not "am I passing this challenge" but "is this challenge, and prop challenges in general, actually making me money once every fee is counted".

What you log, per challenge

A challenge can be linked to an account you already connected to FxMind, or typed in by hand if you have not linked it. Either way, you log: the firm (from the forex prop presets only), the account size and phase, a status (active, passed, failed, funded or closed), and its money: the first purchase fee, any reset or re-buy fee, any refund, and every payout with its own date, amount and currency. A payout is not always paid in the challenge's account currency, so it carries its own.

Spent, received, net, return %

Spent is every fee except a refund, minus every refund. Received is the sum of payouts. Net is received minus spent. Return % is net divided by spent, times 100, left blank rather than guessed when nothing has been spent yet. Pass rate is passed and funded challenges over passed, funded and failed ones (a challenge still active, or closed with no verdict, counts toward neither side). Average days to pass is the mean of end date minus start date, over the challenges that passed or got funded and have an end date.

One trader's own numbers, worked out
First challenge fee
-$150
Failed once; a reset fee
-$75
Passed on the second attempt; funded
$0
First payout, 30 days later
+$480
Second payout, 30 days after that
+$480
Spent: $150 + $75
$225
Received: $480 + $480
$960
Net: $960 - $225. Return: 327%
$735

Where it lives

The Money tab sits on the existing Journal > Prop tracker page, next to Progress. A CSV export gives one row per fee and one row per payout, for your own spreadsheet or your accountant. The analyst can answer a question like "how much have I spent on prop challenges this year" using the tool get_prop_money, which reads the exact same numbers the Money tab shows, so an answer from the analyst and the number on the page can never disagree.

Which plan. The Prop tracker, with its Progress and Money tabs, is on Trader ($49 a month) and above; Free does not have it. Picking a firm loads its rules from 10 forex firms and 641 presets. Tracking one more challenge account than your plan has is a challenge account slot, an add-on at $6 a month. See /features and /pricing.

What it does not do

It does not predict whether your next challenge will pass, and it does not pull fees or payouts automatically from a firm's own billing: you log them yourself, the same way you log a manual trade. The firm picker only offers FxMind's own forex prop presets.

Questions

  1. 01

Do I need to link a broker account to use the money log?

No. A challenge can be a standalone entry you type in by hand: firm, size, phase, fees and payouts. Linking an account is optional and does not change the money math.

  2. 02

    What counts as "spent"?

The first purchase fee, plus any reset or re-buy fee, minus any refund. A refund is the only thing that reduces spend; everything else adds to it.

  3. 03

Can it mix my USD and BRL challenges into one total?

No, on purpose. Totals are per currency, by firm and overall. Adding two currencies together needs a conversion rate you choose, not one the page assumes.

  4. 04

Which plan includes the prop money log?

Every paid plan (Trader and above). Free does not include it, the same split as Guards.

  5. 05

Can the analyst tell me my prop spending?

Yes. It reads the same summary the Money tab shows through a read-only tool, so its answer matches the page.
