Short answer
- MT5 and MT4 link to FxMind today, through FxMind's own bridge. Type in an investor password, and your open trades and P&L show up in seconds. No EA to install.
- cTrader is built and tested. It is not live yet: FxMind's app is registered with Spotware and is waiting for Spotware to activate it. There is no date for that.
- Match-Trader is planned next. It is not live yet, and there is no date for it either.
- Linking with the investor password lets FxMind see the account only. A second, separate step, a guarded link with the master password, is what lets Guards close or reduce a trade, and only under limits the trader sets.
Words used here
- Investor password
- A password your broker can set on an MT5 or MT4 account that can see balance, positions and history, but cannot place, close or modify a trade. Also called a read-only password.
- Master password
- The password that can trade the account. FxMind calls a link made with it a guarded link.
- Guarded link
- An MT5 or MT4 account linked with the master password, with limits the trader sets. Only a guarded link lets FxMind's Guards close or reduce a trade, and only within those limits.
- Bridge
- The FxMind service that holds the connection to a broker's MT5 or MT4 server and streams the account back to FxMind.
- EA (Expert Advisor)
- A script installed inside MT4 or MT5 that trades or reports for you. FxMind's link does not need one.
- Open trades and P&L
- The positions currently open on the account and their profit or loss right now, before anything is closed.
What links today
MT5 and MT4 both link through FxMind's own bridge, built and vendored inside FxMind rather than borrowed from another product. Type in the account's login, server and password, and the bridge opens a session to your broker's server and streams the account back: open trades, orders, balance and equity. cTrader and Match-Trader are not part of this yet.
How the link works
Give FxMind the investor password, if your broker gives you one. It can see the account but cannot place, close or modify anything, so linking it changes nothing about how the account trades. Your open trades and their P&L appear in seconds. Nothing is installed on the account itself: no EA, no script, nothing running in the terminal.
A read-only link is enough for the journal, the calendar and News Guard's warnings. To let Guards act (close a trade, close half, move a stop or cancel an order), the account has to be linked again with the master password, as a guarded link, with the limits and actions the trader chooses. FxMind never opens a trade, on either kind of link.
Accounts per plan: Free links 1, Trader 2, Pro 3, Elite 6 and Desk 10, MT5 and MT4 in any mix. Free is read-only, and its sync pauses after 7 days without a visit and resumes when you return. An extra linked account is $8 a month on any paid plan. See /pricing.
Which plan does what with each link: the warnings you get from a read-only link (News Guard, and Prop Rule Guard on a prop account) are on Trader and above. Guard actions and sending orders from the desk need a guarded link and Pro or above. See /features.
cTrader: built, waiting on Spotware
cTrader is not live. FxMind's application is registered with Spotware, and the connector itself is built and tested against a protocol-level fake of the platform. What is missing is Spotware's own approval to activate the app on real accounts, and FxMind does not control when that happens. There is no date to give. cTrader stays off for every customer until that approval lands.
Match-Trader: next, not live yet
Match-Trader is next on the list after cTrader, and is not live. There is no date for it either. This page will change to say "live" the day it links a real account, not before.
Why a dedicated bridge
MT5 and MT4 accounts run through one service built for this: one connection per account, held open, converting broker time to UTC before anything else touches the data, so a trade opened at the broker's own clock lands in the journal and on the chart at the right moment everywhere else. The same bridge is what a guarded link's close or reduce order goes through, so a warning and the action behind it read the same account state.
Questions
- 01
Can FxMind trade on my account without me?
No. FxMind never opens a trade on any link. On a guarded link, Guards can close or reduce a position, but only within the limits and actions the trader turned on, and never to open or add to anything.
- 02
Is cTrader available now?
No. The connector is built and tested, but it is waiting on Spotware to activate FxMind's application. There is no date for that.
- 03
Do I need to install anything in MT4 or MT5 to link it?
No. FxMind's bridge connects to the broker's server directly with the account's login and password. No EA, no script, nothing added to the terminal.
- 04
Which password should I use to link?
The investor (read-only) password if your broker offers one. It shows the account without letting anything trade it. Add the master password later, as a guarded link, only for an account where you want Guards able to act.
- 05
When will Match-Trader be ready?
There is no date. Match-Trader is planned after cTrader and is not live.
